Lead Case Manager & Interpreter

Youssuf had over ten years of professional experience working in both Africa and the United States, before beginning to work specifically with Utah's refugee community in 2014 and came to UHHR in 2016. He completed a certificate in case management at the University of Utah in 2017. Youssuf is fluent in English, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi and Swahili. He also speaks intermediate/conversational French. He is a certified Professional Medical Interpreter and is trained in Mind Body Medicine, Case Management Coordination and Mental Health First Aid. He is proud of his ability to work patiently and empathetically with people of all backgrounds to increase their overall wellness. At Utah Health and Human Rights, Youssuf works to advocate for clients, making referrals when necessary and assisting clients with meeting their complex daily needs through case management services. He also serves as a leader in the Salt Lake City East African Community group.
